Role overview
Home for the past eight years, our Brixton roastery is undergoing a substantial transformation as we convert the space to host a brew bar. Open to the public Monday to Friday, the brew bar will showcase the full range of Assembly coffees using multiple brewing methods, and become a crucial touchpoint for the Assembly brand.
As the Roastery Brew Bar Manager, you will play a pivotal role in managing the new café space while upholding the highest standards in coffee preparation and hospitality. You will be the primary contact point for our customers, representing our brand and values as you welcome and host a varied demographic of guests, offering a truly memorable experience to everyone who comes through the door.
Responsibilities
Coffee preparation and quality control
- Prepare and serve coffee beverages to the highest possible standards, showcasing your deep expertise in multiple brewing methods.
- Maintain strict quality control measures to ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and overall customer satisfaction
- Work closely with the Assembly product and brand teams to maintain a consistently high level of product knowledge.
Café Management
- Oversee all aspects of the brew bar operations, including inventory management, ordering stock, and equipment maintenance
- Create and maintain a welcoming and aesthetically pleasing café environment that impeccably aligns with the Assembly brand identity
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and implement necessary protocols.
Hospitality and customer experience
- Greet customers warmly, providing a friendly and personalised experience for each guest
- Engage with customers, sharing your extensive knowledge of the entire Assembly coffee catalogue and our brand story
- Address customer inquiries, feedback, and concerns professionally and promptly.
Brand ambassadorship
- Embody and promote the Assembly brand values and objectives with every interaction
- Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere among staff and customers that reflects the core principles of our company
- Uphold the brand's reputation and contribute to building a loyal customer base.
Team leadership and training
- Lead and mentor a team of baristas, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment
- Conduct regular training sessions to ensure all staff members are well-versed in coffee-making techniques, customer service, and brand representation.
Requirements
- Proven experience in coffee preparation and multiple brewing techniques with a focus on quality and precision
- Previous experience in managing a café or brew bar, including staff supervision and inventory management
- Outstanding customer service, people and communication skills to create a welcoming and engaging environment
- Strong passion for coffee and a genuine interest in sharing knowledge with others
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and maintain composure during busy periods
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and organisation
- Familiarity and genuine interest in emerging coffee industry trends, sustainability practices, and sourcing mechanisms is a big plus.
