Provenance

The tenth and final release in our 10-Year series. You can also add a limited-edition 10-Year commemorative poster in the options above.

Café Granja La Esperanza has helped shape Colombia’s specialty coffee scene for decades, exploring rare varieties and new approaches to processing. Having featured a succession of exceptional coffees from CGLE in our catalogue throughout the last decade, this Honey Geisha offers a fitting conclusion to the series.

Process

Geisha is prized for its floral aromatics and delicate, tea-like character, making it a natural variety for experimentation at Café Granja La Esperanza. This lot undergoes a carefully controlled fermentation and drying process designed to enhance those qualities while adding depth and complexity.

The coffee is carefully handpicked and floated to remove lower-density cherries before undergoing a series of controlled fermentation stages. It first ferments naturally for 14 hours in open tanks, followed by an 18 hour double fermentation in closed tanks before being pulped and left to ferment aerobically for a further 72 hours.

After fermentation, the coffee is mechanically dried for 3–5 days at 38 degrees celsius. This controlled approach helps preserve the vibrant character developed during processing, resulting in a cup that balances bright acidity and floral sweetness with a delicate, tea-like finish.
